Synthetic Hair Pieces
Synthetic hair is more low maintenance, more budget-friendly, and easy to care for. It is a wash and wear fiber that has a memory. Therefore, its style, whether wavy or straight, automatically bounces back into its proper form even after it’s been washed. Synthetic hair can’t be exposed to heat, blow dryers, curling irons, flat irons, ovens. It reacts to friction which can cause it to look frizzy. This is a great solution for those who have difficulty styling their own hair or don’t have a lot of time to spend working on it.
Human Hair Pieces
Human hair is a good option for those who want more flexibility to do more styling. This type of wig involves a little more maintenance and care than synthetic hair because it must be restyled each time it is washed. Deep conditioning, as well as proper hydration, are also important to keep the pieces from getting too dry and damaged. Overall, human hair is more durable than synthetic hair and will hold up longer to wear and tear.
There are four main types of cap constructions: Machine-made, Mono Top, All Hand-Tied, and Lace Front
Machine-made wigs are constructed from wefts of hair sewn together to create a pre-styled, pre-cut look. They are more comfortable when worn over hair versus against the bald scalp, and need to be replaced more frequently.
Mono Top wigs create a natural looking part providing the appearance of the natural growth of hair. This type of construction has a wefted back.
The beauty of an all hand-tied wig provides a natural-looking hairline and features multidirectional parting which resembles natural hair growth and mimicks the way natural hair moves. There is also ample stretch in its construction which hugs the head, allowing for a more customized fit. As a result, All hand-tied wigs provide the most lightweight, breathable, and comfortable fit.
Lace Front gives the most natural-looking hairline by laying flush against the scalp which gives the illusion of growing hair.
